Page 6 of 8 (DM:) Don't know. You probably won't find them at your local garden shop...then again, you just might. You will have to look into it. Do you have access to Medline or some such? (Rev:) I think Medline is online, isn't it? (DM:) Actually, yes. I remembered as soon as I typed that... Its wonderful. In the old days we had to pay for Medline... (Rev:) the old days...tee hee! I am not sure how advanced your research has gone thus far, but can you share any new or general interesting information that you have gotten about Salvia divinorum, from your work at the Heffter Organization? (DM:) Well, we haven't really been working on Salvia. But work does certainly need to be done on this one. Actually, something is happening. There is a young man I met at the “millennium” conference just recently, I think he's a post-doc at UCSF or something. (Rev:) Have either you or Terence ever had your IQs tested, the good ole method of shapes and symmetry? (DM:) This is the sort of thing that needs to happen with psychedelics...they need to be recognized for the tools that they are. People need to get over their fear, and their awe, to a certain degree and just realize that we have in psychedelics tremendous tools. (Rev:) Wow, something that a McKenna doesn't fully understand! (DM:) Believe me, there's lots I don't understand...in fact, the older I get, the less I understand...and the more I *understand* that I don't understand... (Rev:) Understanding you don't understand is quite a revelation and an understanding in and of itself! Who have you been influenced the most by in your entheogenic studies or journeys? (DM:) Exactly. And I think this is also part of what psychedelics teach one. The consistent “understanding” if you will, that comes home to me when I take psychedelics, especially psil or ayahuasca, is that, we really only comprehend a very small part of it. (Rev:) Quite humbling!
